The British High Commissioner to SriLanka, His Excellency Andrew Patrick met with representatives of #UNOPS and civil society partners of the #Vriddhi network during his visit to the Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the Eastern Province.

The High Commissioner held discussions on the local challenges related to the socio-economic situation, local governance and access to public services with civil society partners of Ampara district in Akkaraipattu. The #BHC also met with community leaders from Kattankudy to engage on challenges related to water and sanitation, health and environmental issues.

He also engaged with Batticaloa women network to discuss response to gender based violence, malnutrition, social cohesion and economic empowerment. His H.E.Andrew Patrick concluded his visit with a meeting with partners working on land conflict as part of the work completed through the UK funded UNOPS Vriddhi project “Strengthening and protecting the civic space to foster peace in Sri Lanka”.
