Communities in Vakarai, Batticaloa District, came together to map out the natural and manmade resources in their village to identify their seasonal livelihood and economic opportunities. Here, the communities mapped access to water, fisheries, paddy land and garment industry, which serve as prominent sources of income for the community in this area. Through this activity, communities were able to discuss fair resource utilisation across changing seasons in Vakarai, to ensure sustainable livelihood for the community. This was carried out by the AHAM Humanitarian Resource Centre in Trincomalee through Vriddhi’s Financial Grants.
